ROVERS defender Henning Berg knows all about Spurs hit man Teddy Sheringham having trained with him plenty of times when they were Manchester United team mates.

The Norwegian will go head to head with his friend at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow and he knows he will have to be at his best against the England international.

"I know how good Teddy is. He is a very clever player, with his link up play and knows when to make a run. He is very important for them.

"But they have a number of very good players, the likes of Sergei Rebrov, Les Ferdinand, Gus Poyet, he has scored a lot of goals from midfield."

Sheringham has shown it was the right decision to leave OId Trafford and join the White Hart Lane outfit this season by still finding the back of the net with regularity - and it is no shock to Berg he is doing this despite being 36.

"He has always been really focussed, he has got a desire to do well and win," said Berg.

"He has always looked after himself. He is in great shape physically. He is doing really well for them."

Berg, who missed out on United's win in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich through injury, admits playing in an English final means so much to him.

"I played in one final in Norway. We lost the final 3-2 against Rosenburg and Stig Inge Bjornebye scored a last minute goal in 1992!

"But I always used to watch the English finals on television in Norway and think about how great it would be to play in that game and now I have a chance.

"I never watched the gaffer play for Liverpool though as I was always a United fan!"
