GARETH Taylor's current hot-streak has helped him win back his place Mark Hughes's Wales international squad.

The striker has been named in the squad to face the Czech Republic at the Millennium Stadium on March 27 and he admitted: "I would love to be back there a few weeks later with Burnley in the play-offs.

"I will be able to tell the lads all about the stadium although we are not getting ahead of ourselves."

Taylor's strike against Stockport County at the weekend was his fifth goal in the last eight games and his 15th of the season following his free transfer from Manchester City last summer.

The recall follows the disappointment of being left out of the last two squads having been included in the first one of the season.

"I am pleased to be back in the squad because when you are a striker goals talk," he said. "I have just been focused as hard as I can on doing well for my club, not worried about getting back in the Wales squad.

"But I knew if I did get a recall it would mean that I had done my job for Burnley."

"I'm absolutely delighted for him, he deserves it," said manager Stan Ternent. "He has already scored 15 goals for us this season and it is great news for the club and for the player.

"You always stick up for your own but he has done well for me. Every player likes to have a run in the side and that has helped him.

"He is suspended for the next two games but the good news is he won't miss a game by going away as it comes between the Sheffield United game and the one against Wolves."

Taylor, 29 last month, admitted that the most disappointing aspect of his last international call-up was the fact that he did miss a game and temporarily lost his place in the starting line-up.

"That was very frustrating for me," he confessed and he admitted a similar emotion in connection with the ban he is about to serve.

"I have never had ten bookings before and I can't believe some of them. My last one was when I was shoved against Norwich and before that I got done for tackling fresh air against Crystal Palace.

"To be honest I thought the time had run out when bookings would count but apparently that is not until April and that means people like Granty and Bally are walking a tightrope.

"We have had a difficult patch in terms of results but we had a big win at Stockport at the weekend because it was a difficult one for us."

Taylor will now watch from the stands as Burnley try to turn around their home form with games against Preston and Bradford before hopefully returning against one of his former clubs Sheffield United.

Then he will hope to post another timely reminder of what he can do before leaving for international duty.
