BURY Council are concerned about schoolchildren taking extended holidays out of term time (LET, February 20).
As a former school governor, I was very concerned just how many Blackburn schoolchildren were being taken on long holidays out of term time. A child's education is more important than extra holidays.
There are enough holidays within the school year. Also, I notice many children are just not at school when they should be during the daytime. Some are absent from school with their parents' consent.
