ROOKIE fast bowler James Anderson produced his best spell of Lancashire's South African tour over the weekend.
The Burnley youngster grabbed two early wickets in a one day game with an invitation side in Cape Town and manager Mike Watkinson said: "He was very lively. Ran in hard and bowled quickly."
Lancashire are hoping that Anderson and his England under 19 team mate Kyle Hogg will be in the shake up for first team places this season.
Anderson finds himself in a strong seam department at Old Trafford alongside Peter Martin, Glen Chapple, Mike Smethurst and John Wood. But the absence of Andy Flintoff, who will play little county cricket because of his England duties, will leave one gap.
Lancashire welcome back all rounder Chris Schofield today for their game against Boland Academy. Schofield has been out for five days with a side strain and his spin rivals, Gary Keedy and Gary Yates have impressed in his absence.
