A TEENAGE boy was threatened with being "slapped about the face" when he was confronted by a mobile phone thief.
The 15-year-old boy was walking along Bury Old Road in Prestwich at 2.15pm on Saturday (April 6). He struck up a conversation about mobile phones with a young man who then threatened violence.
The teenager was forced to hand over the £100 Nokia handset and the thief fled.
The offender is described as Asian, aged in his early 20s, 5ft 10ins, slim with facial hair on his chin. He was wearing a navy blue track suit, Nike trainers, and a gold ring on his left hand.
Whitefield CID is investigating the street robbery and any witnesses are asked to contact detectives on 0161 856 8248 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
