THE official opening of Radcliffe United Reformed Church takes place tomorrow (Sat April 13).

The ceremony will take place at 3pm and will be performed by the Rev Peter Brain, moderator of the North Western Synod, who will lead the congregation into the new £355,000 building to the sound of the organ.

After the service there will be a buffet followed by a concert in the new building at 6.30pm.

The memorable day will be rounded off with a knees-up and party in the church hall of the old building, beginning at 7.30pm.

Next week the church will throw open its doors to the surrounding community.

On Monday (April 15) between 7pm and 9pm there will be a community coffee evening and on Tuesday a community coffee afternoon from 2pm to 4pm.

The Women's Guild will sing "Songs of Praise" between 2.30pm and 4pm on Wednesday and in the evening there will be an open Male Voice rehearsal (7.30pm).

Thursday sees a "New to You" sale at 6.30pm and next Friday (April 19) there will be a community coffee morning from 9am to noon.
