YOUR experience of Bury Art Gallery and Museum could be immortalised in a new comic book.

The Moss Street institution is appealing to people to tell their own stories of the gallery and its art and history collections.

International comic book artists Simon Grennan and Christopher Sperandio will work with selected storytellers to create a unique version of their own story.

It is all part of a Greater Manchester-wide project to collect personal stories of museum experiences. The new comic book will be launched in time for the Commonwealth Games and will present Greater Manchester's museums from the point of view of local people.

Sue Latimer, of Bury Art Gallery and Museum, said: "Almost everyone has a personal story about the pictures or the museum or even the building if they dig deep enough.

"It could be sad or silly, complicated or simple like the married couple who first met by their favourite painting or the teenager who used the gallery as their 'thinking space'!"

She added: "We're particularly interested in hearing from people with a link to the South Asian, African or Caribbean areas of the Commonwealth."

If you have a story to tell about the library you can phone Sue Latimer on 253 5882. But be quick because stories are only being collected until the end of April.
