A RETIRED farm labourer died after falling at his home and developing pneumonia, an inquest heard.
James Boorman, 75, of Hammerton Avenue, Higham, was found by neighbours collapsed next to his bed on Christmas Eve, last year.
He had a broken shoulder and was taken to Burnley General Hospital but died from pneumonia four days later.
Neighbour Anne Spencer told the inquest she had known Mr Boorman for many years and he refused to go into care because he wanted to stay at home and look after his sheepdogs.
Acting Coroner Richard Taylor said: "It is clear that Mr Boorman suffered a fall for some reason and as a result was admitted to hospital and sadly died four days later."
He recorded a verdict of accidental death.
