THREE Preston-based tennis players have been crowned champions at the Bowker North of England Junior Tennis Championships.

Nine-year-old Michael Nott won the under 10s tournament, 12-year-old Michael Meagan won the under 12s and 14-year-old Chris Llewellyn won the under 14s tournament.

More than 400 competitors from as far north as Scotland and as far south as the Channel Islands took part in the event at The South Ribble Tennis Centre in Bamber Bridge.

For under 14s champion Chris Llewellyn, the championship represents the latest achievement in a long line of honours. Earlier this year he was competing in the Masters finals in Redbridge featuring the best 16 under 14 players in the country.

He is the under 13 Hertz national champion; runner up in the Lancashire County Championship singles under 14; winner of the Lancashire County Championships mixed doubles under 14.

To top it all he also reached the national finals in Bournemouth!
