AN ANGRY animal lover is doubling her previously offered reward to anyone who comes up with information about the terrible injuries suffered by a neighbour's cat.

Mrs Joan Ellis, of Rogerley Close, South Park, Lytham, heard that a black and white male cat named Sherpa was found barely alive in a nearby driveway last month.

He had multiple injuries, including a fractured pelvis and a severed tail, and had to be put down immediately.

Mrs Ellis, 70, is now pledging £100 in the hope of a response which might reveal what happened after her first offer of £50 didn't gain enough response.

Mrs Ellis has secured additional support from two other concerned neighbours, each of whom has put up another £50 bringing the reward to a hefty £200 for any details on how the cat received such injuries.

"I am very upset because I am an animal lover," she said. "My own 25-year-old cat Sandy died recently.

"The old lady who owned Sherpa cried and cried and couldn't settle when she heard he was dead."

According to a local vet there was no evidence of teeth or claw marks on Sherpa when he was examined, which the vet thought seemed to rule out an attack by another animal.

But it has been suggested the injuries could have been sustained as the result of a car accident. Mrs Ellis, however, isn't happy with this explanation.

"There's something not right about this and I mean to get to the bottom of it," she says. Anyone who can help is asked to call Mrs Ellis on (01253) 730699.
