WHEN you're young and in love there are very few things that make you realise life has so much more to offer.

Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai stars the up and coming Amisha Patel and the vastly improving Aftab Shivdasani. Aftab plays an all too familiar college boy (Rahul) who has eyes for Sandhya (Amisha).

When we say he has eyes for her - we mean he's totally infatuated and hurries to catch the same bus with his mates every day, just to get a glimpse of her.

Sandhya though couldn't care less about senoir Rahul or his friends because she's been groomed to study. And that's all she does. There has to be a 'bad' person in the movie and in this one we have Sandhya's father - who's a wife beating alcoholic.

Stealing the show and well worth the watch is Jackie Shroff who plays Rahul's older brother, Dr Kamlakar. As an educated man and someone who's been there and done it Jackie is quick to point out to his younger sibling that life has more to offer than just chasing a quick fix (I use the term loosely).

But Rahul won't have any of it and is determined to get his girl. This is where the script writers always goof up. In the normal world Sandhya would probably get an injunction out against Rahul and he would be the guy she'd talk about to her friends 'as the bloke who's always following me!'

Things only get worse for Rahul when Jackie Shroff dies in a car crash. Time for the movie to begin we think. Alas no! The tables are turned and Sandhya begins to have feelings for Rahul but he now decides he's got better things to do with his life.

The remainder of the film is then a gentle reminder why we watch Bollywood films in the first place - so we can go home happy.
