A BUNCH of fives is good for you, says Fylde Primary Care Trust.

And to prove it is holding an open day at Lowther Gardens, Lytham, next Wednesday (April 17) to encourage local people in the Fylde area to eat five pieces of fruit or vegetable a day.

People of every age will be able to taste all kinds of fruits and vegetables -- some familiar, some a little more exotic -- chopped up for them by the chef at the Sidney Street Family Centre, who will also be offering tips on how to cook them. And they will be able to help themselves and take items home from a massive pile of fruit and vegetables.

Local allotment holders will also be on hand to show how some of the items can be grown.

The Have You Had a Fruity Experience Today? campaign was inspired by the Government's aim to get people to increase their consumption of fruit and vegetables and improve their general health and well being.

The event, to be opened at 10am by MP Michael Jack, will be a fun day for the families and include entertainment for children, plus sports activities.
