Clarets boss Stan Ternent is well aware of the threat that relegation-threatened Grimsby Town pose to his play-off plans.

Only last week the Mariners earned a vital point with a 1-1 draw at play-off candidates Norwich City and he knows the trip to the east coast represents a difficult contest.

"Grimsby have signed well and they have some good players at their disposal," said Ternent.

"They have the likes of Paul Robinson, Andy Todd and Terry Cooke on board and they have got a decent side together.

"So they are scrapping to stay in the division and we are scrapping for a chance to get out of it - so it should be a good game.

"Grimsby's form at home has been very good, but then our away form is as good as our home form in terms of wins, so if we play to our potential then there is no reason why we shouldn't win the game."

But Mariners boss Paul Groves has reason to be confident too after the point at Carrow Road and a recent strong showing against a Wimbledon side who were threatening to hit the top spots.

"It will be tough obviously with Burnley looking to get the victory bearing in mind that they are in the play-offs, but we've been playing well of late, so we can go into the game with optimism," said Groves.

"When we've played teams that are up there we've invariably come out with some good results, and we'll be looking to do the same again."

However, following the Easter programme, the Mariners have a few selection problems due to injury worries and defender Tony Gallimore is ruled as he starts a two-match ban.

"We have one or two people with injuries," said Groves.

"Michael Boulding has a tight hamstring and Stuart Campbell has a strained ligament in and around his ankle.

"But we have a number of players that come into the reckoning, the likes of Paul Robinson and Terry Cooke, so there are a number of players that can fill in those spots."

The Clarets also have selection issues to address, though Ternent was not too perturbed.

"Ian Cox won't be ready, Dimitrios Papadopoulos won't be ready and Robbie Blake can't come into consideration, plus we have Alan Moore suspended for three games.

"But we have enough strength in depth in the squad to be able to cope."
