I READ John Gregson's letter regarding the decline of Bamber Bridge (March 28) and have similar feelings about the amount of litter strewn about.
I don't understand why so many people always seem to be swigging bottled water, tins of pop, etc even in the winter.
I remember when I was at school, and the long hot summer of 1976, but despite it being sweltering hot, day after day, I don't recall people drinking out of bottles and tins.
If the council was to provide a skip somewhere central in Bamber Bridge, such as the car park at the back of the former Kwik Save, I'm sure it could be filled to the brim with litter collected off the streets from 'grot spots' in the space of a weekend.
Also, why not have a clean up of the little stream at the back of Somerfield car park. If this idea was publicised I'm sure you'd get plenty of volunteers, as I have been on a clean up of the river Darwen recently, when about 50 people turned up to clean litter from in and along the river bank.
