A RARE appearance by legendary band The Fall at Blackburn's North Bar next Friday looks like being a sell out.

Fans of the band, and its charismatic lead singer Mark E Smith, have been snapping up tickets for the gig -- one of only three UK dates the band will be playing.

Never far from controversy , The Fall had been due to play in Blackburn after returning from a number of dates in the States.

However, these have had to be cancelled after the band was refused visas by the American authorities.

After the North Bar gig on Friday, April 19, The Fall will go on to play the Garage in London and then take to the stage at the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival at Camber Sands.

Tickets costing £10 are still available from North Bar in limited numbers.

The North Bar has also announced that pop punksters The Dickies will be playing on July 1 and that a number of other well known bands are in discussions with the town centre venue.
