JIM McCLUSKIE has read his Rossendale players the riot act.

McCluskie has been bitterly disappointed with his UniBond first division side who have won just two league games in 14 since New Year.

They looked strong candidates for the play-offs at Christmas but have fallen to 10th, five places outside the play-offs, with seven games remaining.

"Over the last few weeks I have let my feelings be known," said McCluskie. "I think the players have let the club down and themselves down. I didn't want us to just ride out the season - that is not my style - but one or two players are doing that.

"There are some who are playing for their futures here and the 3-0 win against Kendal on Tuesday doesn't change that, although some of them did take my comments on board for that game and there was an improvement.

"If we win all our games between now and the end of the season there is still a chance we can get in the play-offs so I will be looking for us to win all our games."

Striker Gary Williams, who has scored three goals in six games during his month's loan from Accrington Stanley, has now returned to the Reds.

"Unfortunately Wednesday night was his last game," said McCluskie.

"He has given us another dimension while he's been here and I wish him all the best and I hope everything works out for him at Stanley.

"I would love to have him on board full-time but he is a player for another level. Hopefully we will be at that level in a few years time."

Dale travel to Farsley Celtic tomorrow.
