Embarrassing is how St Andrew's manager Phil Keenan described his team's performance after they were torn apart by championship-chasing Rosegrove Rail.

The leaders hit five second half goals to condemn sorry Saints to their heaviest defeat of the season leaving Keenan wondering what had happened to his team.

Andy Masson and the exceptional Darren Simpson gave Rosegrove a slender 2-0 lead before Saints rallied briefly when leading scorer John Hepple went close with two long range efforts.

But the floodgates opened after the break as soon as Danny Nerney headed home after Matt Hill's shot was blocked.

But Simpson, who was superb all game, provided the cross for Nerney's goal and he set up number four when he crossed from for leading scorer Hill to slot home. Simpson then provided the through ball for Mark Fallows to run on to as Rosegrove began to run riot.

St Andrew's have relied heavily on the goals of John Hepple but it was a quite day for the marksman who was restricted to half chances before the break.

However, he should have done better when Tony Allott split the Rosegrove defence but Hepple swivelled and fired well over.

It summed up sorry Saints day. Actually, it got worse as a hopeful ball in to the area was headed in to his own goal by Danny Bryan -- although Simon Smith made a strong appeal for the goal.

With victory assured, Rosegrove chopped and changed and substitute Brett Doogan help set up Simpson who cracked the ball home from just inside the area to make it 7-0.

St Andrew's final got on the scoresheet when Hepple bounced after keeper Brent Doogan dropped the ball. But it will be a game the Saints will want to forget very quickly. And as Keenan sarcastically summed it up: "I'm glad you came to see us play on one of our good days!"
