VIEWS on improvements to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Pendle will be sought in a series of consultation meetings.
Six events have been planned and thousands of leaflets delivered to homes and businesses along the canal.
Displays of possible work will also be held at 15 other locations.
The consultation process will begin later this week and will continue into next month when designs for the improvement work will be finalised.
A spokesman for Fraser Borwick from Groundwork East Lancashire, which is are carrying out the consultation, said: "The opportunity for local people to have their say is absolutely crucial.
"There are so many different options -- community spaces, footpath and cycleways, art projects and much more.
"When we know what local needs are we can set out to offer options that satisfy them. Everyone with an interest in their local environment should come along.
The consultation will begin at the St Phillip's Family Centre, Leeds Road, Nelson tomorrow from 10am-7pm with visits from Mayor of Pendle Coun Colin Waite and Groundwork East Lancashire director Mike Parr.
Further events will be held on: April 20, 10am-4pm, Brierfield Community Centre; April 26, 10am-7pm, Silverman Hall, Nelson; April 27, 10am-4pm, St Mary's Parish Hall, Nelson; April 30, 10am-6pm, Hodge House Community Centre, Nelson and May 11, 10am-4pm, Pendle Rise (Arndale Centre), Nelson.
Displays will be held at various locations throughout Brierfield, Nelson, Colne and Barrowford, including the town libraries, from now until May 10.
