PLANS to build four, split level, two and three-storey detached houses on the site of the former Hide Restaurant, in Ball Grove Drive, Colne, have been rejected.
The application by Millbrook Developments Limited relates to one hectare of vacant land where the building once stood.
Several planning applications for housing development have been refused on the grounds they would have a negative affect on the green belt area.
Planning permission for a similar development was refused in January this year on the grounds it would represent an overdevelopment of the site, was detrimental to the visual amenities of the area, and contrary to local policy.
That application is subject to an appeal which was put on hold while the committee decided on the amended plans.
Council planners recommended approval and said the amended design and layout of the houses would be acceptable but the Colne and District Committee decided to refuse the proposal on the same grounds as the previous application.
