LUCKY Student Gareth Marshall has landed a job most people would love -- studying beer in a brewery for a year.
The 21-year-old has been awarded a £500 cheque and has been invited to spend a year training at Interbrew's Samlesbury brewery.
He won the annual Brewing and Manufacturing Bursary awarded by Interbrew UK and will juggle work alongside studies for an Engineering HND at the University of Central Lancashire.
The grant has saved Gareth from redundancy from his part-time job as an electro-mechanical maintenance engineer.
He said: "The bursary has provided a lifeline for my career due to imminent redundancy. I jumped at the chance when the offer came through.
"I'm looking forward to starting at Samlesbury and I'm hoping it can lead to bigger and better things for me."
Jeremy Horton, Quality Assurance Manager at Samlesbury, said: "We were very impressed by Gareth's ability to juggle his busy agenda at work with his studies.
"He will certainly get the chance to learn new skills throughout the year and we will also be able to assess him in terms of his long term future at the brewery."
Gareth will also receive a further £500 at the end of the year before he continues with his study as part of Interbrew's long term commitment to developing work skills in conjunction with study.
