VOLUNTEERS are being asked to roll up their sleeves and help spring clean the Pennine Road Estate in Bacup.
The event is being organised by Bacup Pride Community Action Group and Groundwork Rossendale.
The areas to clean have been split into five zones, each to be blitzed over five different days: Earnshaw Road on April 23, Rosedale Crescent, April 24, Hawthorn Road, April 25, Co-operation Street, April 26 and the entrance to Mettle Coat on April 27.
Local schools are also getting in on the act and joining the clean-ups on April 23 and 25.
This is the next stage of a Planning for Real event which took place on the Pennine Road estate in summer 2000, in which residents were consulted about the estate and said they thought there was a litter problem.
The SRB and Rossendale Borough Council are funding the scheme being undertaken by Bacup Pride Community Action and Groundwork Rossendale.
