TEENAGE issues including health care, substance abuse, sex advice and truancy will come under discussion at a major conference on Friday.

Two hundred people will take part in the event at Bury's Village Hotel in Heap Bridge.

The event, organised by the Bury Area Child Protection Committee (ACPC), is called Teenage Protection: Consent, Confidentiality and Confusion! Delegates will discuss the difficulties and methods of dealing with problems involving teenagers and their families.

Judge Lindsey Kushner QC will explain where the law stands on consent, confidentiality and teenage protection issues, while Bury GP Dr Pat Fletcher will discuss managing delicate teenage health care problems.

Other speakers include sexual health physician, Dr Helen Lacey; service director with Early Break, Barbara Jack; independent consultant, Sara Swann MBE; Bury Council's Head of Education Welfare, Alan Cogswell; and DS Ruth Brown from Greater Manchester Police's Family Support Unit. Chairman will be Dr Dan Hindley, consultant paediatrician at Fairfield General Hospital in Bury.
