A 36-year-old man has been found hanged in his home in Brierfield.
DS Ruth Chew, of Nelson CID, said the body of Gary Concannon, of Sykefield, was discovered in the early hours of Sunday.
She said that Mr Concannon, who was married, had suffered a short period of depression and his death was not being treated as suspicious.
Acting East Lancashire coroner Richard Taylor has been informed and a date for the inquest has still to be set.
