QUEEN'S Golden Jubilee celebrations in Tottington are set to be a smash hit among villagers.

For they are to mark the occasion with a free "Music in the Park" event in the village's Whitehead Gardens. The day is being planned as a fun day out for all the family.

The musical extravaganza, to be held on Sunday, May 26, will cover the wide variety of music enjoyed in Britain over the last 50 years.

The concert begins at 1pm and will continue for four and half hours, with an unbroken stream of live music from a variety of bands offering a choice of music to suit all tastes and all ages, including the Tottington Brass Band, The Goodshaw Brass Band, The Panama Jazz Band, The Atlanta Roots Blues Band, the Bolton Scottish Pipe Band, The Lancashire Fusiliers Drummers and the pop group Cola Moon.

Admission is free and there will be souvenir stalls , refreshments, barbecued food, and real ale from Bank Top brewery.
