SINGER Natalie Taylor is hoping to net a success after stepping in as a final minute substitute on a would-be World Cup anthem.

Natalie, who is a special needs teacher at All Saints County Primary School in Whitefield, was lead vocalist on the dance track Land of the Rising Sun, which producers are hoping will achieve cult status with England fans for this year's World Cup.

When the 23-year-old of Manchester Road, Bury, heard that her pal Glen Stephens, a Manchester club DJ, was recording a footie track, she volunteered to sing on it.

Unfortunately Glen and fellow musician Dave Brooks, who recorded the EP Eriksongs for Bury FC's Save Our Shakers campaign, wanted a male vocalist.

But when it came to the crunch, it was Natalie who was asked to take the microphone when the song was finally recorded at Prestwich's Blue Room Studio.

She said: "They rang up asked what I was doing that morning and if I wanted to sing.

"It was done and dusted within two hours. We had a listen and liked it."

Natalie, is now hoping the song can attract a record deal and attain the status of World Cup classics like Three Lions and Vindaloo.

"We've had some really good feedback from radio and everybody else who has heard it," she said.

"There haven't been any bad comments so far anyway."
