VOLUNTARY groups working with young people in Pendle could receive a share of almost £3,000.

The District Youth and Community Service Advisory Committee of Lancashire Youth and Community Service in Pendle has grants amounting to £2,684 for this financial year.

Applications are being accepted from groups wishing to obtain funding to support their activities.

Interested groups will need to register with the Lancashire County Council but those who receive block grants, or those funded with staffing by the county council, are not eligible to apply.

Young people can also apply for small individual grants to help with projects or to pursue their interests.

During the last financial year grants were made to South Valley Children's Action Group for the Waterside Youth Club, Safespace and Barley Youth Club.

The committee would welcome inquiries for grant application or for registration forms at the District and Youth Community Base, in Byron Road, Colne, or on 01282 862850.
