POLICE are investigating today after a fight broke out between a group of Asian youths and a group of white youths at a school bus stop.

Officers from Burnley Police were called to the incident in Whitegate at 3.45pm yesterday following reports that a group of Asian youths got out of a car and set upon a group of white youths outside Gawthorpe High School, Burnley Road, Padiham.

The group of white youths were wearing school uniform. The incident took place close to the high school at the bus stop in Whitegate.

A woman reported the incident and officers were called to the scene. They said by the time officers arrived the situation had been resolved and nobody was hurt.

The incident comes just weeks after a fight broke out between pupils from Habergham High School and Ivy Bank High School, both in Byron Road, Burnley.

Police said a 'disturbance' broke out between a group of youths in Anglesey Avenue, Burnley, and a 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital after collapsing with head injuries in an off licence.

Three Asian males were arrested but released on police bail. Anyone with any information should contact police 01282 425001.
