SPIN bowler Qasim Ali mesmerised Baxenden's batting attack to leave them without a win in the first four games.

The Padiham bowler took five wickets for just nine runs in 6.2 overs as Baxenden were shot out for 98. There were a few nervous moments for the home side until they reached victory with seven wickets down.

Great Harwood also struggled to score runs as Settle's Paul Ridgeway took 5-18 and professional Stuart Hornby chipped in with 5-25 to leave the visitors struggling on 43 all out without any batsmen reaching double figures. Settle cruised to an eight wicket win.

Barnoldswick took themselves top of the table with captain Michael Scothern taking 5-18 and Paul Beech four wickets for just three runs as Cherry Tree were dismissed for 74 after the Victory Park club had set a target of 136-9 with Naeem Ashraf taking 5-59.

On a day which saw the bowlers in command, Neil Bibby took 7-52 for Clitheroe as Edenfield struggling to 108-9 in reply to a target of 125. Oliver Salkirk took 5-24 for Edenfield.

Blackburn Northern were dismissed for 81 with Earby professional Alex Scholefield taking 4-33 and then scoring 58 not out in the reply. It had not all gone Earby's way as they lost their first two wickets for just eight runs.

Oswaldtwistle captain Gerard Metcalfe scored an undefeated 70 as his side raced to 205-3, but Read reached victory with professional Akram Raza on 89 not out.

David O'Neill took 6-37 as Ribblesdale were bowled out for 133 with Shahid Nawaz top scoring on 74 after Whalley reached 141.

On Saturday Earby recorded a two wicket win over Baxenden with Stephen Hipgrave top scoring on 28 not out.

Cherry Tree enjoyed a comfortable eight wicket win after Settle were dismissed for 93. The Blackburn club's professional Naeem Ashraf led the reply with 43 not out.

Blackburn Northern were dismissed for 153 but Clitheroe could only reach 121 in reply despite Neil Bolton's 69.

Great Harwood had the edge over Edenfield with Paul Holdsworth top scoring on 49. The visitors reached 141-9 in reply.

Barnoldwick's professional Clinton Peake rattled up 118 as the Victory Park club scoring 219-8 which outclassed Oswaldtwistle Immanuel who were dismissed for 95.

Read beat Ribblesdale Wanderers by nine wickets after they were dismissed for 87.

Whalley clocked up a six wicket win after dismissing Padiham for 92.
