THOUSANDS of people across Blackburn and Darwen are expected to "go green" later this month by taking part in events to help the environment.
Greenweek 2002 starts on Saturday, June 15, and runs until Sunday, June 23.
The annual environmental event aims to highlight green issues and make people more aware of how their actions can create a better and less wasteful world.The programme includes:
An environmental fun day on June 16 (11am-4pm) at Witton Country Park Visitor Centre, Blackburn
A green awareness day at Bangor Street Community Centre, Blackburn, on Wednesday, June 19 (1-4pm)
A miniature herb gardens at Sudellside Community Centre, Darwen (Thursday, June 20, 1.30-3.30pm)
Junk modelling at Earcroft Community Base, Darwen, when children aged 5-11 will make models from recycled materials (Thursday, June 20, 4.30-6pm)
Summer Gala in Sunnyhurst Woods, Darwen, on Sunday, June 23 (1-5pm).
