NEXT Wednesday evening 60 competitors will battle over the Bashall Eaves circuit in the League of Veteran Racing Cyclists annual promotion organised by Dave Hargreaves of the North Lancs Road Club.
The 40-54 year olds will cover three laps of the 11 mile circuit and the 55 plus two laps with a start time of 6.30pm.
Some top professionals and international riders of yesteryear will mix it with several of our East Lancs-based veterans.
Two days later on mid summer's evening, June 21, there is an excellent opportunity to watch cycle racing at its best when the Horwich Cycling Club hold their town centre carnival road races over a closed circuit in Horwich town centre as part of the Queen's Jubilee and Commonwealth Games celebrations.
