BURNLEY'S Chumbawamba are so determined to be in their hometown, for the Anti Nazi League gig later this month, that two members will appear on stage just hours after jetting in from the States.

Singers Alice Nutter and Dunstan Bruce, will have to shake off the jetlag to headline the Love Music-Hate Racism show.

The pair will join the rest of the multi-member outfit for their first appearance in Burnley for more than 18 months.

Lead guitarist Boff revealed that the group -- who are now based in Leeds -- had decided almost instantly to return home for some sort of event after the election of three BNP councillors.

He said: "We have a strong identity with the town and wanted to show solidarity with people in the town. I think it's really sad that when people talk to me about Burnley now rather than talk about things like the football team like they used to they want to talk about the BNP being on the council."

The band maintain the show will be a joyous occasion.

He said: "We've found over the years that no matter what the gravity of the political backdrop, or how serious the situation you can't translate it to the music. We'll be putting on the best show we can and it will be a celebration of opposition rather than being downbeat."

Promising to give the public what they want, means fans can expect to hear the best of their last 20 years including their smash hit Tub Thumping.

But with new album Readymades set for an August release, fans will have to wait to hear much of the new material.

Boff said: "We will be doing a couple of new tracks but that's not what the night will be about. With it being a charity event we don't want to be seen as promoting new material."

He added: "There is a point to why we'll be there and we want people to realise there is a reason for the gig. There will be information available and maybe someone speaking. But the bottom line is that we want people to enjoy the night and be inspired."

Chumbawamba join Miss Black America, Kesmit and The Fat Yanks at the Burnley Mechanics on Thursday June 27. Tickets cost £7 and are available from the box office on 01282 664400.
