I WAS born in the St Annes War Memorial Hospital -- Gone.
Saw shows in the Ashton Gardens Theatre -- Gone.
Played on the sandhills -- Gone.
Sailed on the boating pond -- Gone.
Went to the Palace Cinema -- Gone.
Swam in the open-air baths -- Gone.
Watched the Follies show on the promenade -- Gone.
Walked along the pier to the theatre and orchestral concerts -- Gone.
Studied at the College on Clifton Drive -- Closed.
What have we now? -- a few tatty replacements.
I am in full agreement with "Fed Up" (Citizen, May 30). The square is horrendous -- the only part which is agreeable is the section outside Boots Chemist where the flower beds have been maintained. Are we to get rid of them also? How many of the town councillors were born here? My guess, not many, as I am sure they would have some respect for what we once had -- a pleasant place to live.
