THERE is still a chance to sponsor nine-year-old Jared Potter as he prepares to make a huge splash with a sponsored swim in aid of the Magic Eye appeal.

And the young fundraiser is training hard as sponsorship forms fill up.

It will be the third year running that Jared, a pupil at St Peter's Primary School in Turncroft Road, Darwen, has staged a sponsored swim for charity.

But this time the sporty youngster will help boost the Lancashire Evening Telegraph appeal to raise £200,000 for an endoscopic cancer scanner.

Jared is a member of Darwen Swimming Club and plans to break his 109-length record at Darwen pool.

The equipment will benefit the whole of East Lancashire thanks to the quicker and less traumatic diagnosis of stomach and oesophagus cancer.

Sponsorship forms are available from Jared, the Magic Eye Appeal Office at Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn or from the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
