ABOUT 30 years ago there used to be four bus stations in Preston -- Fox Street (for Fishwick buses); Starchhouse Square (Scout, Standerwick and BBMS); Tithebarn Street (Ribble); and one off Tithebarn Street (Ribble Express).
The council converted them all into one placed in a ideal position for everybody, but now it is not good enough. Despite massive objections to the demolition of the bus station they still want to go ahead. Perhaps it is about time that somebody reminded them that the bus station was paid for by the ratepayers and it really does not belong to them but the people -- the people who elected them to act on their behalf.
Perhaps they would take more notice if Grosvenor 'found it essential to the plans' to demolish the town hall, or build a link road which involved demolishing of their houses.
Mr C Johnson, Preston.
