SO Arthur Greenhalgh (Letters, June 29) thinks Blackburn's market traders are always complaining.

I think I would complain if I had to pay rent while French market traders are setting up stalls rent free.

Is Mr Greenhalgh sure he is in Blackburn when he speaks of now being able to sit down in Church Street and enjoy the town?

What is there to enjoy in Church Street, with buildings down both sides, 'tin' pyramids and stone boulders in the centre and never-ending road works at the top?

The chaos the one-way system is causing at peak hours is ridiculous. Mr Greenhalgh should try sitting on a bus coming home from work at 5pm.

And all this at great expense to the taxpayer.

He talks of being able to buy value-for-money goods on the market. Does he consider £2 for a French stick loaf, £2 for a cob of onion bread, or £6 for a jar of honey value for money? That is what was on sale at the French market.

The market traders have to earn a living like the rest of us and I think we should support our own people first.
