WORK is due start on the demolition of vandalism-plagued Talbot Mill in Chorley this month.
And that will be welcome news for for both parents and emergency services.
For the disused Chorley mill has become a serious safety hazard, with fears growing that a youngster could be seriously injured in the building.
Firefighters have constantly been called to the eyesore to deal with blazes started by children who have been using the building as a playground.
Project manager Andrew Adshead, of the mill's new owners, Birmingham-based demolition firm DSL, said: "We have undertaken further asbestos survey work, one had already been carried out.
"We are informing the Environment Agency we are ready to start work there. We have to give them notice. Things are moving."
Discussions said to be taking place and some demolition of the building at least will now be necessary to make it safe.
