BLACKBURN with Darwen Council, with all the other awards, surely must win the gold award for gross crassness (LET, July 10).

The regeneration supremo for the town states: "We have land next to Pleasington Cemetery ready to use if we want." Then why not use it?

If anyone comes to visit the cemetery they will notice a stub road already has been laid to give access to the fields referred to, which in themselves cover an area even larger than the cemetery itself, which has taken 50 years to arrive at its present position.

These graves were purchased through the families of the incumbents and descendents should have a say.
