MP David Chaytor is one in a million -- when it comes to banning fox hunting.
He put his name to a petition which came to Kay Gardens in Bury on Saturday (July 13), demanding that hunting with dogs is outlawed.
The petition was organised by the Lancashire League Against Cruel Sports, which is visiting towns across the region this summer.
The league's activities are part of a national "Banner for the Ban" campaign, which aims to collect one million signatures on a picture of a hunted animal, to be fixed on to a banner and presented to Tony Blair later this year.
"The campaign against fox hunting has carried on for 50 years," said Mr Chaytor, Labour MP for Bury North.
"This matter has now gone back to the House of Lords, yet on more than one occasion the Commons has supported the call for an end to this cruelty.
"I am confident we will soon get the opportunity for a final vote to end fox hunting without further delay."
Mr Chaytor's Bury South colleague, junior education minister Ivan Lewis, also signed the petition.
