BURNLEY are believed to be giving a week's trial to French youngster Sylvain Meslien as Clarets boss Stan Ternent looks to add to his squad.

Meslien, who plays for Saint Etienne will be competing for a place in defence.

At just 22, Ternent is aware that he will be getting a player for the future.

Ternent has already proved his ability at snapping up youngsters from the French League, defender Arthur Gnohere came from Caen last year.

Meslien has yet to truly establish himself in the Saint Etienne first team, but it seems likely Burnley would have to pay some kind of fee for the youngster should they decide to make the deal permanent.

Meslien is a full-back who like Gnohere likes to get forward on all occasions.
