WITH their debut album almost in the bag The 'Burn are preparing for their first live TV appearance and a major festival.

Speaking from Pete Townsend's Barge Studios in London, singer/songwriter Danny Davidson revealed that the final mixes of the album were almost complete and the band would be back and rehearsing in their home town next week.

The Blackburn five-piece will making their live TV debut next Friday night when they play live on the BBC2 programme Running Late.

They will be performing a new track called Calling All and Danny said: "It's going to be a bit like being like being thrown in at the deep end but we can't wait. It's a new song we're doing but one that will be a single at some point."

With legendary rock band The Who rehearsing for their new tour in the next studio, the singer admitted taking a few moments to check out Townsend, Daltry and company at work.

But the local lads have already become accustomed to rubbing shoulders with some of the country's top music stars.

Having enjoyed successful tours with Oasis and Paul Weller, Ian Brown and Cast, their experience of big stages will stand them in good stead when they join the bill of their first major festival. Joining The Chemical Brothers on the NME stage of the V2002 event will offer the band a new audience and time for relaxation.

Danny said: "We're on in the early afternoon so once we've done our bit we'll be hanging around and have a good time. It'll be good to be able to soak up the atmosphere and I'll definitely be checking out the Beta Band, who should be interesting.

There is a sense around the band that everything is coming together now and after nearly seven months in the studio they're to let the music do the talking.

Danny said: "We've been locked away for months working on the album and that's the way it should be. We've been totally focused on getting the record right. I haven't picked a paper up for weeks but the songs are sounding great and now it's virtually done, we're just itching to get out and starting playing again."

The 'Burn play at the Weston Park, Staffordshire, leg of V2002 on Sunday, August 18. For ticket details call 0870 120 2002.
