FURTHER to Dave Dickson's excellent letter (July 5), I too would like to express my disappointment and dismay at the recent decision to ban players connected with a league club from playing in the North Bury Junior football league.

My son loves his football, loves his own junior team and loves supporting Bury FC.

Since before Christmas he has been training in all weathers, every week with the under 8s at Bury, safe in the knowledge that he would be with his own junior team next season and hoping against hope that in his own small way he would also be signed on to play for the Shakers. Less than two weeks before training begins with his own team, a certain group of managers force a young lad of eight to make a decision, with which even I felt unable to help: leave his friends and team of the last two years, or turn down the chance to represent the league club he fanatically supports.

To John, Andy and a smashing bunch of young lads at Bury, many thanks and good luck to you all. After a week of heartache and tears, my son will still be playing in the North Bury Junior League next season.
