Kidsgrove Athletic 1-1 Leigh RMI by Martyn Hindley
A STRONG Leigh RMI side were given a stern test by UniBond League side Kidsgrove Athletic before coming out with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night.
Leigh could boast new signings Paul Williams, Stuart Coburn and Damien Whitehead among their starting XI and also relied on the services of triallists Ged Courtenay and Phil Salt.
But they still fell behind on the quarter hour when defensive confusion allowed Twigg to break the deadlock.
Former Railwayman Steve Tobin went on to hit the bar with a spectacular effort as the hosts played some admirable football before being pulled back in the second period.
Whitehead miscued with an attempted volley in front of goal but Stalybridge midfielder Courtenay nipped in with a cool left-footed finish to restore parity after an impressive all-round display.
