I HAVE written a lot about badgers in the last few months. I love the species and I am very careful not to tell people about the location of my favourite setts.
The Lancashire Badger Group have done wonderful work in protecting Brock, (this is the origin of the word Brockhole) from those who hunt them to death with dogs and call it sport.
If you want to join the badger group their address and telephone number can be obtained from local libraries.
A new threat is emerging as some (but not all) scientists blame badgers for the spread of Bovine TB and want them killed. It may be that last year's foot and mouth outbreak is making farmers extra nervous.
I can see their point but I would be pleased to know what our readers feel. Do you agree with me that badgers should be regarded as innocent until proved guilty?
