BLACKBURN Rovers have signed Dwight Yorke from Manchester United.

Ewood chief Graeme Souness made no secret of the fact that Yorke was his number one transfer target and he has finally got his man.

The full details of the deal are yet to be announced but the Trinidad and Tobago international has met Ewood Park officials today.

Yorke's departure from Old Trafford looked inevitable after the club failed to issue him with a new squad number, further evidence of his spectacular fall from grace.

Rovers striker, and good friend of Yorke, Andy Cole is convinced his former team-mate is exactly the type of signing who could take Rovers onto the next level.

"Dwight is a quality player, like I've said before, and if you want to improve the team then you've got to bring in quality players because the club has to move forward," said the Ewood goal-ace.
