AS a supporter of Longview Animal Centre, Division Lane, Blackpool, our local RSPCA animal care centre, I am writing to say how close we are to reaching our target of £5000 per month in standing order donations.

As you know if we don't reach this target by the end of August the centre will be forced to close. With animal neglect and abuse increasing this would be a real tragedy for our local animals. At the last count we had over £3500 so far. If we could show the public just how close we are to reaching this target maybe it would be enough to encourage more people to help the centre and local animals in need of care.

A minimum regular donation of just 50p per week is all we ask. As an incitement I am going to be doing a parachute jump on Saturday August 24 at the Black Knights Parachute Centre. Standing order forms are available from Longview (tel 01253 763991,fax 01253 839926, 11am to 3.30pm, closed on Mondays) or if anyone is unable to obtain a form I will drop one off for them and deliver it back to Longview (tel 07901 645577 or email me at sean@greenwoods84.freeserve.co.uk).

If anybody is unable to make a regular commitment but would like to sponsor me for the jump (all money raised will go direct to Longview) they can contact me directly or the Longview Animal Centre. Please note, one off donations don't count towards the appeal to keep the centre open.
