A LEYLAND great grandmother has welcomed the latest generation to her family -- a great great granddaughter.

In a giant reunion, the Wilkinson family met up in Lostock Hall to show off their latest addition -- baby Mya-Jade.

Little Mya-Jade was shown off to her great great grandmother Nelly, who lives in sheltered accommodation in Farington, for the first time on Saturday. And members of all five generations were there to see it.

Lucky Nelly, who turns 90 in September, is grandmother of nine, great grandmother of 19, and now a great great grandmother.

Daughter Jackie Wilkinson, who lives on Yew Tree Grove in Lostock Hall, said: "I run a bit of an open house for our reunions.

"We're all quite a distance apart, so it's quite special to have five generations together."

Jackie's sister Vivian lives in the South of England, along with Viv's daughter Michelle, whose son Liam and his wife Kylie are the proud parents of Mya-Jade.

Jackie and her sisters were all nurses in Lancaster until before Jackie moved to run Clough House care home on Worden Lane, Leyland.

So Nelly, also a retired nurse, now has another birthday to mark on her calendar!

Jackie said: "It's the first time she'll have seen the baby. She's looking forward to it, and she's been talking about it with everyone."

Nelly is still active enough to cope with her expanding family. Up until the age of 85 she helped cook for Jackie's care home.

Jackie said: "Just remembering when they're all born is difficult! She has to keep a calendar. When Mya-Jade was born the first thing I did was put her name down on it."
