MORE than £6,000 was raised for charity in memory of a Clitheroe dad who died of cancer aged 37.
Former pupils of Ribblesdale High School raised the cash in memory of Kenneth MacMillan, who died from a rare form of stomach cancer in 2000, leaving a son aged four and two-week-old daughter.
Theresa Robson and Jayne Parrington launched the Kenneth MacMillan Memorial Fund to raise cash for the East Lancs Hospice Appeal and the Grand Cinema and Arts Centre refurbishment project.
The Grand closes later this year for a major revamp and its new recording studio will be named after Kenneth, who was a keen singer and musician.
The cash was raised from a series of events, including an Italian night, an Indian night, a tap dancing marathon and a coffee morning.
The Gladys Sutcliffe Theatre School in Clitheroe also donated the proceeds from its annual musical to the fund.
The fundraisers also hope to present a shield to Ribblesdale High School, to be awarded each year to the school's best musician.
Jayne Parrington said: "We would like to thank everyone who supported the fund and helped us raise cash for these worthy causes.
"Kenneth was a popular local lad and the naming of the recording studio at the Grand in his memory is a fitting tribute."
