THEY lit the blue touch paper and set off a night of musical fireworks at Hoghton Tower.
The Northern Chamber Orchestra Symphonia performed a midsummer night's stream of classics before East Lancashire's version of the big bang lit up the night sky.
Proceeds from the Symphony at the Tower presentation will go towards boosting the funds of St Catherine's Hospice in Preston.
The event was one of a series of summer spectaculars at the historic tower.
In September the Sealed Knot Society will create big bangs of a different kind when they re-enact an English Civil War battle.
