CLARETS chairman Barry Kilby has got his fingers crossed as he waits for the verdict in the court case involving the Football League and Carlton and Granada.
The case, which began last Thursday, could finish today or tomorrow and he admitted: "We are just hoping for the best.
"To be honest we have been working on the likelihood that we will get nothing and that will mean that if we do get something it is a bonus. The best scenario is that we get all the money we are owed and then we can relax.
"But the reality remains that we will probably have to sell because we have got to raise the money (around £4million over two years) we are missing somehow.
"In addition to possibly selling we are going to struggle to bring in any new players, like Marlon Broomes and Marlon Beresford, because the budget is so tight."
Even if there were to be a decision in the next couple of days Kilby knows the uncertainty will continue as he said: "The companies have already said that they will appeal against the decision if they lose and I think the Football League will as well so the fight is not going to be over."
