THE Clarets continue their pre-season preparations with a match against Accrington Stanley at the Crown Ground tonight.

The Clarets have named a 16-man squad and will field a young side but given the reduced number of professionals at manager Stan Ternent's disposal it is another chance for some of the fringe players to press their claims.

Ternent explained this morning: "We have got a few knocks and niggles but I have included Ian Cox and Gordon Armstrong who did not play in the Isle of Man.

"We have got the game coming up against Bolton on Wednesday night.

"That is when I want to give as many as I can a run out. That means we will have a few of the younger players in action tonight."

While the first team squad was away in the Isle of Man, Ronnie Jepson enjoyed a good week's work with the reserve and youth players and he was delighted with their 6-2 victory at Nantwich Town.

Now tonight offers then likes of striker Matthew O'Neill, defender Earl Davis and midfielder Andrew Waine to impress again.

Kick-off at the Crown Ground is at 7.30pm and fans can pay at the gate, £5 adult and £3 for concessions.

The Clarets squad is : Salisbury, Leeson, Davis, Cox, Armstrong, Rasmussen, Waine, Pilkington, O'Neill, Hindle, Grimes, Scott, Pittam, Blakey, Carter, Richardson.
